Waco, Texas --- The Minnesota State football team moved to #9 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II Coaches’ Poll, up one spot from a week ago.
The jump comes after the Mavericks defeated Southwest Minnesota State, 34-31, in double overtime this past Saturday. Additionally, the #1 and #4 teams in the nation fell last week causing a shake-up in the top-25.
The Mavericks are one of three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schools in the top-25, joining Minnesota Duluth, which is tied for Seventh, and Sioux Falls, which is 23rd. Additionally, St. Cloud State received a vote in this week’s poll.
The ranking marks the 25th time in program history that the Mavericks have been ranked in the top-10.
Minnesota State (7-0, 7-0 NSIC) returns to action this weekend as it travels to Winona State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
