Indianapolis, Ind. --- The Minnesota State football team is ranked #1 in the initial NCAA Division II Super Region Three poll which was released Monday afternoon.
The Mavericks are one of four teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference ranked in the top ten in the region. The top six teams from each of the four “Super Regions” following the final week of the regular season advance to the NCAA Division II football tournament.
The Mavericks are followed by a pair of Great American Conference members in Henderson State and Harding. Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association members Emporia State and Northwest Missouri State are ranked fourth and fifth, followed by NSIC member Minnesota Duluth.
Winona State and Sioux Falls – both of the NSIC – are ranked seventh and eighth, while the MIAA’s Missouri Western State is ranked ninth and the GAC’s Ouchita Baptist is ranked tenth.
Minnesota State – ranked #7 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association top-25 poll – closes the road portion of its schedule Saturday as it travels to Wayne State. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
