Mavericks Slip To #2 In Regional Rankings

10/29/2012 5:08:00 PM

Indianpolis, Ind. --- The Minnesota State football team dropped one spot in the second edition of the NCAA Division II Super Region #3 regional rankings, falling from the top-ranked team in the region to the second-ranked team.

The drop in the ratings comes on the heels of MSU’s 42-35 victory last weekend at Wayne State College.  Henderson State jumped MSU for the top spot and the Mavericks are followed by Harding and Northwest Missouri State.  Missouri Western State is in fifth-place, followed by Emporia State, Minnesota Duluth, Winona State, Sioux Falls and Pittsburg State.  The top-six teams from each region advance to the NCAA tournament, with the top-two teams receiving first round byes.

The Mavericks (9-0, 9-0 NSIC), ranked sixth in this week’s AFCA poll, entertain 17th-ranked Sioux Falls Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Blakeslee Stadium.
