Golden, Colo. -- Daktronics, Inc., has announced that Minnesota State sophomore catcher
Lindsay Erickson and senior pitcher
Kendra Huettl have been named to the
2012 Daktronics, Inc. All-Central Region First Team. Senior outfielder
Chelsea Erickson and junior pitcher
Courtney McKelvogue landed on the
Daktronics, Inc. All-Central Region Second Team.
Lindsay Erickson played and started in 57 games this season, 39 of which were behind the plate, 11 at third base and seven at first base. Erickson went 9-of-11 in the NCAA Tournament last weekend and finished with a .429 batting average on the season. The Big Lake, Minn. native was a
First Team All-NSIC selection and the
NSIC Player of the Year. Younger sister of senior Chelsea Erickson, Lindsay Erickson has won the
NSIC Player of the Week award two times this year and has earned the award three times in her career. The sophomore led MSU in multiple-hit games (27) and is tied in first for multiple-RBI games (14). In 2012, she broke the record for doubles in a season with 24, which lands her second on the career doubles chart at MSU with 44.
Huettl appeared in 38 games this season and started 30 from the circle, working to a 24-4 record and a 1.39 earned run average. Opponents hit .186 against Huettl this season and she struck out 247 batters, while allowing just 53 runs, 40 of which are earned. The senior worked 202 innings this season and owned a no-hitter recorded six one-hitters in 2012. Was named the
NSIC Kelly Award winner (Top Senior Female Student-Athlete). Huettl was the winner of the
MSU Female Athlete Medal of Honor and the
Georgene Brock Award (Outstanding Female Student-Athlete) and was also a Maverick Achievement Award Winner. This season she was named to the
First Team All-Conference pick and was a member of the
NSIC Gold Glove Team and to the
NSIC All-Tournament Team. The North Mankato, Minn, native broke the single-season strikeout record (247) and is first in career strikeouts (772), second career wins (92) and games started (125) at Minnesota State.
Chelsea Erickson started all 59 games this season, 38 of which are in centerfield and 21 of which were at first base. The older sister of sophomore Lindsay Erickson, Chelsea Erickson was a 2012
First Team All-NSIC selection and a
NSIC All-Tournament Team member. The Big Lake, Minn., native led MSU in home runs (11), runs scored (47), runs batted in (50), walks (36) and stolen bases (16). Over the course of her career, the Big Lake, Minn., native has played in 216 games, starting 209 and owns a .286 batting average with 120 runs scored. Ends her season second on the career home run (29) chart at Minnesota State.
McKelvogue appeared in 37 games this season for Minnesota State, while starting in 27. She owned a 21-6 record to compliment her 1.37 earned run average. McKelvogue allowed just 130 hits as opponents are hitting .212 off of her to go with 136 strikeouts. She also registered 12 complete games this season and ten shutouts. The West Des Moines, Iowa native was named to the
2012 Second Team All-NSIC. The junior ranks fourth in career wins (63) and strikeouts (469) at MSU.
The fifth-ranked Mavericks (49-10) season came to a close last Sunday after a 3-1 loss to Concordia University in the NCAA Central Regional in Mankato, Minn.
