Minnesota State junior outfielder Eryn Edgerton is in her fourth season with the Mavericks. The Wausau, Wis., native was born on November 27, 1990 to Scott and Deb Edgerton. She is majoring in elementary education here at MSU.

Edgerton was a four-year starter and letter winner at Wausau West High School.  She batted .410 as a senior and pitched to a 13-7 record with a 1.70 earned run average including 185 strikeouts. She was also named First-Team All-Conference and was the schools and Daily Herald’s Female Athlete of the Year.

During her freshman season, Edgerton played in seven games and batted .200 before her year was shut down due to a medical redshirt. Despite her injury, she was still named All-America Scholar-Athlete by the NFCA.

Then during her first full season she played in 45 games and came off the bench in each of those games. She was used primarily as a pinch runner where she stole five bases in seven tries. Edgerton also had a batting average of .333 including a pair of runs batted in.

In Edgerton’s sophomore season with the Mavericks, she started in 11 games, seven of which were played in leftfield and four as the designated player. She had a batting average of .225 with 15 runs scored including one double and three RBI. Edgerton also successfully stole 5-of-6 base attempts.

This season Edgerton has played in 33 games and has started in 32 of those. She is batting .173, with 6 RBI, and has scored 8 runs.

“Eryn is a very bubbly and positive person. She really relates well with people because she never gets to high or too low. She is a good leader; she is always working hard and doesn’t complain at all. Her biggest strength is definitely her personality, she has work hard and has come back this year and said I am going to play hard and have fun with her senior year,” said head coach Lori Meyer. “I want Eryn to play to her potential because she has waited and earned her position this year. She is very devoted and I really want her to have fun playing in her senior year.”
