Mankato, Minn.--- The fourth-rated Minnesota State men's track and field team hosted the Ted Nelson Classic on Saturday. They were joined in competition by Augustana College, St. Cloud State, University of Wisconsin La Crosse, and Gustavus Adolphus College.
Freshman
Myles Hunter won the championship in the 60-meter hurdles finishing with a time of 8.12. Junior
Samuel McKay ran a career-best time of 7.07 in the 60-meter dash to advance to the finals. In the finals He ran a time of 7.19 taking seventh place. Junior
Anothony Gustafson ran a time of 22.28 for the Mavericks in the 200-meter dash as he finished in first place.
Freshman
Ryan Erdman posted a career-best time in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:40.62 en-route to a fifth-place finish. In the 5,000-meter run senior
Jacob Bastyr finished with a time of 15:40.25 finishing in second place.
Senior
Randy Khieu finished in second place while freshman
Rumeal Harris placed third in the long jump with jumps of 21' 10.25" and 21' 5.50" respectively. In the weigh throw freshman
Adam Shultz had a career-best throw of 47' 6.5" finishing in fourth place.
The Mavericks took second, third, and fourth place in the triple jump as sophomore
Khalil Jor'dan leaped 46' 8.75". Freshman
London Thurman had a career-best leap of 45' 7" while senior
David Pearcill leaped 44' 6.25". MSU freshman
Frank Veldman placed third in the high jump leaping 6' 6.75".

Pel Deng, and freshman
Brendan Gessner finished in first place with a time 3:23.55 which stands as the second-best time in the NSIC.

The Mavericks will return to action next weekend as they host the MSU Open on Saturday followed by the NSIC Multi which will take place Sunday and Monday.
