Box Score SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --- Top-seed Minnesota State scored seven runs, all with two outs, in the bottom of the fourth inning to propel the Mavericks to a 17-5 victory over fourth-seed Concordia University in loser-out Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament action Wednesday night at Sioux Falls Stadium.

With the win, MSU stands 41-8 on the year and will play either Augustana or St. Cloud State tomorrow at 7 p.m., at a location to be determined. The Golden Bears see their season come to an end with a 28-14 overall ledger.

For the second straight game, the Mavericks scored a run in the bottom of the first. Freshman
Eric Peterson reached on a leadoff hit by pitch before coming around to score on an error by the Golden Bear second baseman.

However, the Golden Bears retaliated with a tally in the top of the third as senior
Elliot Powell tagged a triple to deep centerfield and sophomore
Alex LaPorte followed with an RBI single up the middle. CU plated three more runs in the fourth inning kick started by a two-run triple to right-center by Powell and followed by a safety squeeze extending the Golden Bears a three-run cushion at 4-1.

Minnesota State countered right back in the bottom of the fourth scoring seven runs on four hits, all with two outs. After sophomore
Taylor Branstad scored via a wild pitch and senior
Parker Sullivan tagged an RBI double down the left-field line, Peterson spanked a two-run single to centerfield giving the Mavericks a one-run lead. Three batters later, junior
Nolan Johnson dropped a two-run single into right field, and MSU pushed another tally across on a double steal to claim a 8-4 advantage through four complete innings.

CU fought back with an unearned run in the top of the sixth only to see the Mavericks responded with five runs in their half of the frame highlight by a two-run home run over the fence in right-center field by senior
Stetson Olson, his 12th of the season, giving MSU a 13-5 cushion. Minnesota State added an additional run in its half of the seventh when Peterson pulled a RBI double down the left-field line for his third hit of the contest.

The Purple and Gold completed the scoring barrage with three tallies in the eighth inning scoring on a bases-loaded walk, a wild pitch and a passed ball to secure the 17-5 final.

Senior righthander
Bryce Bellin (5-1) struck out five across seven innings with four earned runs, while freshman righthanders
Mitchell Bauer and
Tyler Frohwirth tossed shutout eighth and ninth innings, respectively.

Peterson ended the day three-for-four with a double, three runs and three RBI, while Johnson added four RBI in a one-of-three performance.
