BURNSVILLE, Minn. --- Minnesota State junior kicker Alden Haffar was named the NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts during MSU's 58-0 victory against Minot State last Saturday.
A native of West Des Moines, Iowa, Haffar went 3-of-3 in field goal attempts against the Beavers as he connected on kicks from 28, 51 and 46 yards out. His 51-yard field goal matched a previous season-long field goal he made against St. Cloud State earlier this season.
Haffar also connected on 7-of-7 extra point attempts to finish the game with 16 points. Along with his 16 points scored, he averaged 58.4 yards per kickoff, to go along with six touchbacks.
Haffar is the first Maverick this season to receive an NSIC Player of the Week award. He is also the first Mavericks to receive the NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week award since Sam Brockshus claimed the honor during the 2013 season.
No. 3 Minnesota State continues its season on the road Saturday as it takes on the Bemidji State Beavers. The opening kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
