Mavericks Continue Action in Lincoln and Minneapolis

LINCOLN, Neb. --- The MSU women's track and field team saw participants travel to two different Big Ten Conference hosts.

At the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska, sophomore Brieanna Puckett saw her recent success continue as she took home third-place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.68.  She would also come in eighth-place in the 200-meters posting a time of 25.33.

In the field events, Puckett would once again find herself in the top-ten coming in fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18'8".

Other notable MSU finishes include Anna Veroeven finishing eighth in the triple jump at 37'6.75".

Heading northeast, the Minnesota Open also saw its fair share of success for the Mavericks.

In the 60-meter dash, freshman Briana Holt found herself in second-place with a time of  7.96.  Senior Rachel Lindquist followed in sixth-place with a time of 8.11.  Holt would continue her successful day into the 200-meters finishing in fifth-place with a time of 26.49.  Teammate Bonnie Pickford would keep the day rolling with her first-place finish in the 400-meters with a time of 1:00.01.  Kimmy Wreh and Mackenzie Beals would follow in fourth and fifth, respectively.     

Switching to the 600-meters, freshman Megan Allen finished the day in second posting a time of 1:39.12.  Teammates Maddi Sjelin and Halee Peterson would finish in similar fashion coming in fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 800-meters.

The Mavericks 4x400 relay team, consisting of Madison Alexander, Beals, Pickford and Wreh, finished in third-place with a time of 4:03.29.  

In the field events, senior Amanda Stangler lead the Maverick charge in the high jump, finishing fourth with a jump of 5'3".  Kayla Lindell and Eden Rogers followed up in sixth and seventh, respectively.  

The pole vault event saw junior Faryn Wirkus up her season-best to 12'1.5".  This currently places her sixth in the nation across all of division II.

Finishing up the day, freshman Allison Calkins came in second-place in the triple jump with a lunge of 33'4.5".

The Mavericks will return to action this coming weekend as they are set to host the MSU Open and Multi in Mankato, Minn.
