Mavericks Compete at Day One of Nationals

Birmingham, Ala. --- All four Mavericks who qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships were in action Friday afternoon as the meet kicked off in Birmingham Alabama.

2014 runner-up in the heptathlon, Nathan Hancock finds himself sitting in seventh through four events with 2,893 overall points.  He posted a time of 7.14 in the 60-meter dash and followed that with a lunge of 21' in the long jump.  His shot put mark of 38'0.75" and high jump standard of 6'6.75" rounded out his postings.

School record-holder in the 60-meter dash, senior Emmanuel Matadi, qualified for the final round after posting a time of 6.68, which ranks third in the field.  

Matadi and Kyran Stewart both did not qualify for the final round of the 200-meters.

Sophomore Myles Hunter posted a time of 8.06 in the 60-meter hurdles which put him in ninth, also not qualifying for tomorrow's final round.

Hancock and Matadi will wrap up their indoor careers tomorrow afternoon in Birmingham.
