4x100 Team Claims Drake Relays Title

Des Moines, Iowa --- The #2 Minnesota State men's track and field team added yet another milestone to their impressive season at the Drake Relays.

The top-ranked 4x100 relay team, comprised of Richard Wilhite, Jr. (Minneapolis, Minn.), Emmanuel Matadi (St. Paul, Minn.), Kyran Stewart (Camilla, Ga.) and Anthony Gustafson (Faribault, Minn.) posted a final time of 40.29 claiming the top spot. Matadi also brought home a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with his time of 10.49.

Senior Keyvan Rudd (Davenport, Iowa) raised his career-best in the high jump to 7'1.75", maintaining his second spot in the national rankings.

The Mavericks saw other action other than the relays at the Drake Alternate in St. Peter, Minn.

Matthew Stocker (Salon, Iowa) claimed the lone first-place finish as he did so in the 800-meters with a time of 1:55.90. Brennan Holman (Sacramento, Calif.) also placed in the top-five with his posting of 1:57.92. Connor Westlake (Johnston, Iowa) grabbed second in the 5000-meters at 15:29.31.

In the hurdle events, a pair of Mavericks saw their names in the top-five of their respective events. Zechariah Copeland (Brookfield, Wis) finished second in the 110-meters at 15.63 andJustin McMurtry (Fairmont, Minn.) finished third in the 400-meters at 55.65.

The Maverick multi-event student-athletes will get their chance to shine at the NSIC Multi Championships beginning tomorrow in Aberdeen, S.D., with the rest of the team returning to action Wednesday at the MSU Twilight.
