Mavericks Wrap Up Drake Relays

Des Moines, Iowa --- Trying to build off a record-breaking day, the Minnesota State women's track and field team returned to the track looking for yet another successful afternoon.

At the Drake Relays, the 4x100 relay team finished the final round in eighth-place. Comprised of Karlona Gregory (Minneapolis, Minn.), Sid'Reshia Floyd (New Hope, Minn.), Mackenzie Beals (Marshalltown, Iowa) and Brieanna Puckett (Brooklyn Park, Minn.), they posted a final time of 47.97. The sprint medley relay team, featuring Puckett, Beals, Taylor Glover (Spencer, Iowa) and Maddi Sjelin (St. Michael, Minn.) finished 11th at 4:10.01.

For the athletes not in Iowa, they travelled north to St. Peter to take part in the Drake Alternate, hosted by Gustavus.

Miranda Schultz (Waconia, Minn.) set things in motion finishing fifth in the 200-meters at 27.33. Megan Allen (Grand Rapids, Minn.) took home second in the 800-meters with her final time of 2:16.93. Halee Peterson (Cloquet, Minn.) and Erin Baker (Grand Rapids, Minn.) finished second and third, respectively, in the 1500-meters with Peterson leading the two at 4:46.76. Rounding out the track events was Kellie Wong (Ankeny, Iowa) in the 100-meter hurdles finishing third at 16.21.

Senior Bryanna Sudman (Eden Prairie, Minn) finished fourth in the pole vault at 12'0.75". Nicole Larson (Milwaukee, Wis.) followed in fifth at 11'7".

The Mavericks will return to the track on Wednesday as they are set to host the MSU Twilight in Mankato.
