Mavericks Find Success at MSU Twilight

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team returned to action this afternoon as they hosted the MSU Twilight.

The meet was paced in part from a trio of sprinters in the 200-meters. 
Kyran Stewart (Camilla, Ga.) led the way in first with a time of 21.17, but it was Richard Wilhite, Jr. (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Geno Bullard (Nassau, Bahamas) setting new personal-records with times of 21.26 and 21.82, respectively.  Dan Guelle (Hastings, Minn.) finished first in the 400-meters with a time of 50.721.  Emmanuel Dixon (Brooklyn Center, Minn.) crossed right behind in second.  Victor Bowen (Milwaukee, Wis.) kept the first-place trend moving with his time of 1:54.19 in the 800-meters.  Brendan Gessner (Lino Lakes, Minn) and Matthew Stocker (Salon, Iowa) followed right behind.  

Brennan Holman (Sacramento, Calif.) took first in the 1500-meters at 4:01.35 with Connor Westlake (Johnston, Iowa) following suit in the 5000-meters at 15:37.49.  Slater Powell (Corvallis, Mont.) scored a pair of first-place finished in  the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles with times of 14.75 and 55.14, respectively.  Freshman Austin Pasch (Tomah, Wis) finished first in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:27.48.  

David Pearcill (Eagan, Minn.) and Alex Campbell (Ellsworth, Wis.) went first and second in the triple jump with Pearcill leading at 45'6.25".  Freshman Jayme LaPlante (Chatfield, Minn.) took first in the shot put at 49'0.75" and third in the discus at 148'11".  Bryan Caffin (Hudson, Wis.) joined LaPlante in the shot put finishing second and finding similar results in the hammer throw at 163'6".  Fellow hurler Adam Schultz (Le Sueur, Minn.) took third in the hammer as well at 154'5".  Samuel McKay (Rhinelander, Wis.) rounded out the events with a second-place effort in the javelin at 181'2".

The Mavericks will return to the track on Saturday as they travel to the campus of Winona State University to compete in the Warrior Open.
