MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's and women's track and field teams took a few athletes on the road this weekend as they traveled to Minneapolis to take part in the annual Jack Johnson Classic.
The women had three runners compete in the 200-meter run. Pacing the Mavericks was senior
Mackenzie Beals (Marshalltown, Iowa), who placed 12
th with a time of 25.84. This is also her personal best time this indoor season. Coming in 16
th was Sophomore
Karlona Gregory (Minneapolis, Minn.) with a time of 25.96. She was followed by freshman
Autumn Santos (Waukegan, Ill.) in 26
th (26.44). Barely missing out on the finals in the 60-meter dash was sophomore
Briana Holt (Maryland Heights, Mo.) running a time of 7.95.
The 400-meter run saw two Mavericks running. Coming in seventh-place was sophomore
Amelia Kjos (River Falls, Wisc.) with a time of 59.59. Fellow sophomore
Kimmy Wreh placed tenth in 59.78. Junior
Haley Kruger (Brandon, S.D.) led the way for the Mavericks in the 800-meter run placing third with a run of 2:14.49. She was followed by junior
Maddi Sjelin (St. Michael, Minn.) in tenth (2:19.05) and freshman
Bobbi Patrick (Middleton, Wis.) in 11
th (2:20.18).
The field events also saw some success with senior
Faryn Wirkus (Edgar, Wisc.) leading the way. She brought home sixth-place in the pole vault with a vault of 12'9.50". The single male athlete competing this weekend for the mavericks was sophomore high jumper
Alex Campbell(Ellsworth, Wisc.), who placed fourth with a leap of 6'04.75''.
