Pittsburg, Kan. --- With a record-setting time of 7.53, Minnesota State junior
Myles Hunter became a national champion in the 60-meter hurdles today at the 2016 NCAA Division Indoor Track & Field Championships held in Pittsburg, Kan.
Hunter, who broke his own record in winning his first national title, blazed to the fasted time in the event in the United States (all divisions). The Conyers, Ga., native, who was making his third appearance at the national indoor championships, becomes a three-time All-American with today's national championship (he is a two-time outdoor All-American in the 110m hurdles). Hunter's national individual title is Minnesota State's eighth indoor individual championship and the first in the 60m hurdles.
Junior
Frank Veldman, who was making his first national championship appearance, earned All-America honors in the high jump with his 6' 9" effort placing him in a tie for eighth.Freshman
Jeff DeCock cleared 6' 7" to place 14th in his first national championship appearance.
Senior
Kyran Stewart, who finished ninth and just missed earning All-America honors at last year's national championships, earned All-American honors in the event this time around when he finished sixth in the 200m with a :21.46 clocking.
As a team, the Mavericks placed 19th with 13.25 points.
