Los Angeles, Calif. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team is showcasing their abilities in the Golden State this week commencing at the California State University, Los Angeles Twilight Open.
The evening got off to a fast start thanks to the division II indoor national champion,
Myles Hunter. Hunter cruised to a first place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.70. This ties his season best time, which also is an automatic qualifying time. The 4x100-meter relay team was trying to defend its title from last year but fell short coming in fourth. The team made up of Hunter,
Richard Wilhite, Jr.,
Michael Sandle, and
Paul Selman finished in 41.19.
Selman also competed in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash placing 15
th with a time of 10.79 and 12
th with a time of 21.96, respectively. He was followed by
Sandle in 21
st with a time of 11.07 in the 100.
The Mavericks saw some success in the field events with
London Thurman winning the triple jump with a mark of 47'3.75''.
Geno Bullardand
Alex Campbell placed second and fifth in the long jump.
Bullard had his season best jump of 23'52'' as did
Campbell with a leap of 22'63'.

The Mavericks will be back on the track tomorrow morning as they are set to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays held in Norwalk, Calif.
