Maryville, Mo. --- The Mavericks sent four freshman athletes down to Missouri for the MIAA vs NSIC Showdown to compete in the decathlon and heptathlon events.
Pacing the Mavericks in the decathlon was
Jack Curtis placing fourth with 5812 points to his name. Some notable performances from Curtis include: Â 100-meter dash time of 10.73, which was the best in the field, 20'3.75'' in the long jump, and 6'04.24'' in the high jump.
Placing seventh for the Mavericks was
Joe Williams with a total score of 5620. Some of his notable performances include: 21'02.75'' in the long jump placing second, 51.81 in the 400-meter dash also placing second, 4:54.47 in the mile run again placing second.
Placing ninth for MSU was
Anyah Nutter with a final score of 5220. Some of his notable performances include: 10.95 in the 100-meter dash placing third, 6'04.25'' in the high jump placing third, and 15.36 in the 100-meter hurdles and placing second.
The lone female representing MSU in the Heptathlon was
Jessika Dieringer. She placed seventh with a total score of 4172. Her performances include: 16.34 in the 100-meter dash, 4'07.75'' in the high jump, 26'9.75 in the shot put, 25.95 and placing third in the 200-meter dash, 15'10.50'' in the long jump, 108'00'' in the javelin throw, and wrapping up her day in the 800 with a first place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.04.
