Mavericks Run to Fifth Consecutive NSIC Title

Sioux Falls, S.D. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team captured six first-place finishes this afternoon in coasting to the 2016 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championship.

The Mavericks totalled 166.50 points in winning the team title, finishing well in front of second-place finisher, Augustana, which had 141 points. The title is the fifth in a row for Minnesota State and the 29th all-time NSIC championship for the school.

Highlights on the day for the Mavericks included a championship record in the triple jump by sophomore Michael Sandle (49-09.00) and championships in the 100m (10.39) and 200m (21.31) by senior Richard Wilhite. Junior Myles Hunter won the NSIC 110m hurdles for the third consecutive year (his time this year was 13.94) and freshman John Schuster turned in a first-place finish in the 400m (49.53).
