Minnesota State Claims 2016 NSIC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Afure Adah, Ariel Thomas and Mackenzie Beals finished first, second and third in the 100m at the 2016 NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championship

        Sioux Falls, S.D. --- The Minnesota State women's track and field team captured five first-place finishes this afternoon in claiming the 2016 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championship.

The Mavericks totalled 152.33 points in winning the team title, finishing in front of second-place finisher Winona State, which had 137.50 points. The title is the second NSIC outdoor track & field championship for the Mavericks and the first since 1983.

Highlights on the day for the Mavericks included  Altoniece Williams and Brooke Forman finishing first and second in the 110m hurdles, Haley Kruger and Megan Allen going one-two in the 800m, freshman Afure Adah winning the 100m and joined by Ariel Thomas (second), Mackenzie Beals (third) and Gabi Gaines (fifth) in the event, and relay championships in the 4x100m and 4x400m.
