Sioux Falls, S.D. --- Minnesota State's women's cross country team opened the 2016 season by posting a sixth-place finish at the Augustana Twilight Invitational held in Sioux Falls, S.D., Friday evening.
The 20-team, three-mile event was held at Yankton Trails.
Sophomore
Megan Serratore paced the Mavericks (17:46.34) with a team-best 26th-place finish. Junior
Erin Baker (17:46.70) placed 28th. Freshman
Carisa Weyenberg (17:53.59) was 32nd in her collegiate debut, while sophomore
Josie Braaten (18:00.12) was39th, sophomore
Lily Paul (18:00.43) placed 41st, junior
Megan Allen (18:10.92) finished 54th and sophomore
Allyson Daines (18:21.40) placed 60th, Other Maverick individuals competing included freshman
Jaylynn Lauer (18:33.90, 72nd), junior
Mariah Betzler (18:36.29), 76th), freshman
Josie Heeren (18:41.78, 82nd), freshman
Bobbi Patrick (19:05.84, 97th), freshman
Katie Anderson (19:09.56, 99th), junior
Haley Kruger (19:16.27, 109th), freshman
Hilary Swanson (20.29.03, 170th) and junior
Becca Ohotto (21:48.30, 203rd).
Winona State tallied 84 points in claiming team honors. Sioux Falls (135) was second and was followed by Augustana (130), Dordt (145), Morningside (154), Minnesota State (164), Carleton (168), Nebraska-Kearney (179), Black Hills State (193) and Doane (256) rounded out the top ten.
