Mankato, Minn.--- The Minnesota State men's track and field team claimed their sixth consecutive NSIC Indoor Championship with a total of 183.5 points. The second-place finisher in the Championship was Sioux Falls who finished with 154 points. The competition was held at Meyers Field House in Mankato, Minn.
In the 60-meter finals
Justin Taormina (7.00) finished fourth,
Tanner Ogren (7.01) finished fifth, and
Vance Barnes (7.02) finished sixth earning the Mavericks five, four, and three points respectively.
Anyah Nutter finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.23 and
Anyah Nutter (8.33) finished fifth earning eight points and four points. In the 200-meter finals sophomore Ogren (21.19) finished first to claim his first NSIC Indoor championship and ten points.
Parker Gloudemans (22.27) finished fourth,
Reid Diamond (22.36) finished fifth, and
Jack Curtis (22.48) finished seventh earning 11 more team points for the Mavericks.
Sophomore
John Schuster earned his first career NSIC Indoor Championship in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.51.
Isaiah Pitchford (49.02) finished second and
Dalton Bialke (49.08) finished third as well to give Minnesota State a total of 24 points for the event. In the 1000-meter run
Austin Yardley finished fourth with a time of 2:33.87 and earned five points.
Austin Pasch finished seventh in the one mile run to earn two team points.
Senior
Bryan Caffin Earned his first career NSIC Indoor Championship in the shot put with a best throw of 53'4.25". In the pole vault
Mitchell Valli finished second with a height of 16'5.50" and
John Cihlar (14'6") finished seventh to earn the Mavericks ten more points.
Junior
Michael Sandle earned his first NSIC Indoor Championship, his second NSIC Championship overall, in the triple jump when he improved his already division II best jump of 53'0.25" to 53'10.5".
London Thurman (48'7.25") finished second and
Elijah Calderon-Pitchford (47'10.50) finished fourth to earn the Mavericks a total of 23 points in the event.
In the final event of the championship, Minnesota State took first place in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:18.29 to earn ten points.
Sandle earned the meets high point performer as he accumulated 26 points for the Mavericks.
Those who have qualified for nationals will travel to Birmingham Alabama for the NCAA National Championships March 10
th and 11
th.
