Mark Schuck Legacy Endowment
Coach Mark Schuck’s name is synonymous with Minnesota State University’s Cross Country and Track & Field athletic programs. His life at Minnesota State started in 1965 as a student-athlete and never ended. Coach Schuck’s career spanned 44 years at Minnesota State and continued through retirement as a volunteer. His legacy lives on through an endowment fund established in his name. Throughout his four decades at Minnesota State, he demonstrated unparalleled dedication as the Men’s Cross Country Head Coach for 34 years and Men’s Track & Field Head Coach for 15 years.
During his remarkable coaching career, Coach Schuck led the Minnesota State Men’s Cross Country team to an astounding 12 conference titles spanning from 1979 to 2008 and a national team title in 1988. During his tenure, Coach Schuck was named Track and Field Conference Coach of the Year 15 times – seven in the North Central Conference and eight in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. He was recognized as the NCAA Division II Men’s National Cross Country Coach of the Year in 1988 and as the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year in 2006.
Coach Schuck served the University in many ways including twice as the interim Athletic Director, over 25 years as the Student Relations Coordinator for the College of Allied Heath, as a physical education instructor, as well as the Assistant Track Coach. During his coaching years he started and managed hundreds of high school indoor track meets. Coach Schuck provided an opportunity for thousands of boys and girls to compete and experience his beloved Minnesota State.
Coach Schuck built upon the foundation set before him and left an indelible mark on Minnesota State’s athletic legacy. He cared deeply for every one of student-athletes and prided himself on providing exceptional opportunities through athletics.
Coach Schuck, along with his family, has established the Mark Schuck Legacy Scholarship Endowment. This initiative aims to provide annual athletic scholarships to the men’s cross country and track and field team. Coach Schuck’s goal is to raise over one million dollars from the student athletes he has impacted throughout his coaching career.
Donations can be made through various avenues:
Electronic Cash Donations:
- Cash donations can be set up for one time payments or monthly, quarterly, twice a year, or annual payments.
- For example, if you wish to contribute $1,000 over the year, you can make monthly payment of $83.33. These payments can be conveniently and automatically charged to a bank account or credit card.
