- The contest is scheduled for Sunday, January 27, 2008, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Lake Washington at Squirrel’s Nest Landing/Westwood Marina, located northeast of Mankato, MN. A horn and visual display will signal the official start at 12:00 noon. Contestants will be allowed inside the fishing area beginning at 10:00 am to select and set up at a hole. No fishing is allowed until the contest has officially started. Violators will be disqualified.
- In the event of weather cancellation, listen for announcements on The Fan 1230 AM or KTOE 1420 AM between 7:30 and 7:45 am or check www.msumavericks.com. The contest will not be rescheduled, but all the prizes will be awarded. Winners will be determined by a drawing on Sunday, January 27, 2008, from the ticket entry forms received prior to January 27. Names of all winners will be posted at www.msumavericks.com under the Big Bobber and also in subsequent issue of "Outdoors Weekly".
- Fishing contest tickets are $30 each if purchased by January 20, 2008 and $40 each thereafter. The contest will be limited to the first 3,000 entrants. There is no age requirement for contest participation. No refunds will be given.
- All fish entered must be alive and must be brought to the judges’ stand immediately. This is a catch and release tournament. All fish caught will become the property of the tournament.Fish that are dead, frozen or have been tampered with are ineligible. Fish must be registered by the ticket holder (exceptions made for the handicapped). All weigh-ins may be videotaped for security purposes. The decision of the judges is final. The first, second and third place winners may be required to take a polygraph exam. In the event deception is detected, the entrant’s prize will be given to a charity selected by the event sponsor.
- Contestants must fish in area designated for contest, must have ticket visible at all times and are not allowed to leave and re-enter the designated fishing area from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. Ticket checks along with bucket inspections will be performed.
- Places are determined by fish weight and time entered. In the event of a tie, the first fish registered wins. In order to determine all other places, all fish are counted in each weight/time category, starting with the largest entered in the contest and proceeding down.
- You may register as many fish as you catch, but no contestant will be eligible for more than one competition prize per ticket. Contestants qualifying for more than one prize per ticket will be awarded the prize for their highest weight fish. Each fish registered will be counted when determining final prize selections. Prizes, once awarded, are the responsibility of the winners. Any expenses incurred with the prizes are the responsibility of the winners. No cash substitutions. No contestant sharing of prizes. Prizes that are not claimed because of multiple catches will go to the next place below the last prize awarded, i.e. the 101st, 102nd, etc. fish caught.
- Only one person may fish per entry ticket. Contestants with one ticket may fish one line - one hole – at a time. Contestants who purchase two tickets (maximum allowed) can fish two holes at the same time. Participants may bring several poles from which to choose and may move to a different hole in the vast fishing area. Contestants will not be allowed to drill their own holes.
- Parking instructions can be found on the Directions page of the website listed above. There will be off site parking and shuttles provided.
- To qualify, all fish must be registered prior to horn signaling end of contest. Contestants waiting in line to register fish will be included.
- Contestants will not be allowed to use fish houses, portable otherwise.
- All coolers, containers, clothing and bait pails will be inspected upon entry. Heaters, chairs, 5 gallon bait pails and depth finders are allowed. You may bring your own bait or purchase it on the lake. No spears or video equipment. Anyone caught trying to carry a fish into the contest area will be disqualified, and their entry fee will not be refunded.
- Food and beverage concessions will be available. Carry in refreshments are prohibited.
- No motorized vehicles will be allowed in contest area other than those used by contest officials and police personnel. Consequently, fish must be brought to judge’s stand on foot (exceptions made for handicapped with approval of contest personnel prior to start of the contest.
- Contestants who do not follow contest rules will be disqualified. All State of Minnesota fishing regulations and laws must be followed.
- Each person attends the contest at their own risk and Minnesota State University or its agents/independent contractors will not be liable for any personal injuries sustained by the person including those caused by negligence of agents, employees or other administrators of MSU.
- As part of admission requirements, contestants agree that photographs or likenesses of themselves may be used for future promotions.
- The right to refuse/revoke a contest entry ticket to anyone is reserved.
- Non-ticketed individuals will not be allowed into the fishing area.
- We thank you for supporting our efforts to protect the environment and request that you remove refuse from the ice, including cigarette butts, when you leave. Glass containers are not allowed in the contest area and will be confiscated by, and forfeited to, tournament officials. Waste containers are provided.
