The Mavericks Big Bobber Ice Fishing Contest committee invites you to participate as a sponsor in the 2008 Mavericks Big Bobber Ice Fishing Contest to be held on Sunday, January 27, 2008 on Lake Washington, just northeast of Mankato, at Squirrel's Nest Landing / Westwood Marina. The three hour ice fishing contest will run from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm with registration, selection of fishing holes and set up beginning at 10:00 am. MSU coaches and athletes will be hosting and working the event.
The Big Bobber committee's goal is to make this ice fishing contest one of the largest annual fundraising events of the Minnesota State University Athletic Department and to have it grow into a well known winter attraction for southern Minnesota. All money raised will be used for scholarships for talented and deserving student-athletes. Tickets are $30 per hole if purchased prior to January 20, 2008 and $40 after that date with a 2-hole limit per participant.
In addition to the ice fishing contest, the event will feature a food and refreshment tent, music and remote radio broadcasts. Prizes will be awarded for the top 100 places in the ice fishing contest, determined by fish weight and time entered. Raffle tickets will be available.
