Weis, a native of Chanhassen, Minn., was named Assistant Athletic Director for athletics development and revenue generation in June of 2017. He continues to be responsible for managing corporate partners and growing ticket revenues as Senior Associate Athletic Director.
Weis, who owns undergraduate (2010) and master's (2014) degrees from MSU, focuses on soliciting major gifts to benefit the athletic department, including facilitating donor relations and stewardship of current supporters. In December, 2023 he earned CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification.
Weis was also recognized in 2018 at Prime officer by REEHER Primer Officer and is actively involved with the National Association of Athletic Directors of Development (NAADD) as well as the Business of Small College Athletics (BOSCA). He sat on the board of Hockey Day Minnesota in 2022 and helped the Mavericks hit all-time highs in corporate partner revenue and ticket revenue.
Prior to joining the Mavericks, Weis spent six years as an administrative member of the Mankato Moondogs, a collegiate summer baseball organization that is a member of the Northwoods League. He served as the team's general manager during his last three years, overseeing fiscal planning, sales strategies, budgeting, staffing, and media relations. He served as the committee chair for the LEEP Legends program and still sits on the LEEP Legends committee, has been a member of the Twin Rivers Council for the Arts and was a member of the Greater Mankato Sports Commission.Â
Named the recipient of the Minnesota State University, Mankato Sport Management Program Rising Star Award in 2015, Weis and his wife, Cate, reside in North Mankato.
