“Kelsey really made the most of every opportunity she had this season," said head coach Lori Meyer.  "She has always been a very solid player through out her career and when she transferred to MSU she did a great job of buying into our program.  Over the last three years Kelsey has really worked hard in the classroom, in the weight room and on the field which allowed her to step-up her play and become a tremendous impact player. This past season, Kelsey really emerged as our emotional leader on the field and challenged this team to play to its potential and leave it on the field every game.  Her honors and her awards this past spring represent what kind of student-athlete she is.  This All-American honor is a very deserving award for her as she did it with sheer hard work, determination, positive attitude, and a fierce attitude as a competitor and that is a testament to the type of person and player she is.”

Thompson becomes the 11th All-American in the program's history.

Minnesota State finished the 2010 season with a 36-15 record and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the eighth time in school history and the fourth straight season.
