Minnesota State to Visit North Dakota this Weekend for WCHA Series

Mankato, Minn.--- Minnesota State (6-17-3 overall, 5-14-1-0 WCHA) travels to Grand Forks, N.D., to take-on the University of North Dakota (14-7-3 overall, 12-6-2-0 WCHA) this weekend, January 28-29. The two teams meet at UND’s Ralph Engelstad Arena, Friday and Saturday at 7:07 p.m.

As of this Week:

- The Mavericks have now lost six straight games and have been swept their last three series.
- Out of Minnesota State’s 13 series this season, MSU has swept thier opponent two times and been swept seven times.
- When the Mavericks score three of more goals they have a record of 6-0-0. When they score two or less they are 0-17-3.
- The Mavericks have not earned a victory since 11/13 at Ohio State and are 0-12-2 in their last 14 games.
- Freshman Kathleen Rogan tallied goal number 11 of the season, a team best, which bumps her point total up to 11-8---19, also a team-best.
- Rogan ranks 22nd in the WCHA in points (11-8--19), T-13th in goals scored and fifth in freshman scoring.

A Look at North Dakota:  

- The North Dakota Fighting Sioux own a 14-7-3 overall record with a 12-6-2-0 mark in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
- Last time UND played, they swept St. Cloud State on the road, with scores of 5-0 on 1/21 and a 5-0 on 1/22
- They have recorded 82 goals to their opponents 61 goals...North Dakota has scored 33 goals in the first period, 21 in the second, 27 in the third and one overtime goal.
- UND has tallied 707 shots to its opponents 632 shots.
- The Sioux are 21/133 (.158) on the power play, while its opponents are 11/107 (.103).
- North Dakota has 12 skaters that have had at least one goal and have had 17 skaters that have had at least one point this season.
- UND is led by sophomore forward Jocelyne Lamoureux (22-16--38), sophomore forward Monique Lamoureux-Kolls (16-22--38), junior forward Alyssa Wiebe (10-13--23) and sophomore defenseman Jordan Slavin (5-13--18).
- Lamoureux and Lamoureux-Kolls are owners of a team-high five power play goals.
- Lamoureux leads the team in penalties with 33 for 74 minutes.
- North Dakota’s goaltenders are junior Stephanie Ney who owns a team-best 10-2-2 record, a 1.70 G.A.A., a .935 save percentage and 347 saves, and sophomore Jorid Dagfinrud who owns a 4-5-1 record, 3.47 G.A.A., a .865 save percentage and 224 saves.
- The Sioux are coached by Brian Idalski who is in his third season as the leader of the Fighting Sioux women’s hockey program...Owner of a 31-52-13 record while coaching North Dakota.

MSU/UND History: The Minnesota State Mavericks are owners of a 19-7-5 overall record against North Dakota...The two teams faced-off earlier this season in Mankato, Minn. with the two teams splitting the series...MSU picked up a 4-2 win and then dropped a 5-1 decision...In the win, freshman Kathleen Rogan earned her first career hat trick, with fellow rookie Tracy McCann picking up the other goal...In the loss, freshman Nicole Germaine tallied her first career goal.

Program History:
The 2010-11 season will mark the 13th year of women’s hockey as a varsity sport at Minnesota State…MSU has competed in 445 games...The Mavericks hold a 126-279-40 (.328) all-time record.

Follow the Leader:
Junior defenseman Ariel Mackley serves as the team captain this season, with juniors forward Moira O’Connor and junior defenseman Jackie Otto as the alternate captains.
